What exactly does Kanara Labs do?
We produce plant-derived active ingredients without growing the whole plant. From a single leaf we obtain plant stem cells which, in bioreactors, produce the same compound the plant does: resveratrol, polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes and others.
Is it genetic modification?
No. In vitro cell culture does not alter the plant's genome. We work with cells of the species itself, in a sterile, controlled environment, with no genetically modified organisms.
What are the advantages over traditional farming?
Production in weeks instead of seasons, independent of weather and soil; a fraction of the water and energy per gram; batch-to-batch consistency and a far lower cost per gram for high-value compounds. The figures published on this website are internal estimates for reference crops and vary by species and compound.
Which sectors do you produce for?
Cosmetics (high-value actives), nutraceuticals (bioactives for health and functional food), pharma (plant-derived active ingredients) and energy (biofuels). The same process works for different molecules: the molecule changes, the factory doesn't.
In what form is the product delivered?
As a liquid or powdered extract, with an active ingredient concentration far above the traditional route and with batch traceability.
Can you produce a specific molecule for my company?
That is our everyday work. Tell us which compound you need, in what quantity and to what specifications through the contact form and we will assess whether it can be grown.
Where are you based?
In Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain). Our company is Vulkania Labs, S.L., based in Santa Úrsula.
How can I send my CV?
From the contact form, switching to the “Send CV” option and attaching your CV as a PDF. We keep applications for a maximum of 12 months, as set out in our privacy policy (in Spanish).
